Renaissance Fiber recognized by NC IDEA as a promising North Carolina start-up in 2019

Yadkinville, North Carolina (May 8, 2019) – NC IDEA, an organization committed to supporting business innovation and economic advancement in North Carolina, announced today that it has awarded $300,000 in SEED grants to six North Carolina startups, including Renaissance Fiber. NC IDEA’s grants program is a catalyst for technological breakthroughs developed in North Carolina that have a significant potential to successfully transition into commercially viable high-growth enterprises. NC IDEA’s SEED award offers early stage companies the critical funding they need to scale faster.

Renaissance Fiber, launched in April of 2018, is a post-prohibition producer of hemp fiber from locally and domestically grown hemp for the Southeast’s still vibrant textile industry. The company’s novel hemp processing approach is an efficient, low-cost method that produces high-quality hemp fiber. Renaissance Fiber’s patent-pending degumming technology also produces hemp fiber with the lowest impact to the environment.

The NCIDEA SEED grant award supports the initiation of Renaissance Fiber’s scaled operations and provides additional validation for the company’s business as hemp re-enters the regional and national economy as a natural resource for multiple industries.
