Our History

Long Farm Hemp Mill™

Renaissance Fiber’s first mill was built in 2018 on the Long Farm in Yadkinville, NC. The Long Farm was initially settled by the Long’s Quaker ancestors in the early 18th century, and was operated as a tobacco farm almost perpetually until contracts were recently lost. The skeleton of tobacco operations have been repurposed for use in the United States’ first operational hemp mill for textiles in nearly a century.

The Long Farm Hemp Mill was the central hub for hemp fiber cultivation and processing in the Piedmont and contracted the first fiber-only hemp crop in North Carolina.
